Who we are:

The Port of London Authority is the statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames and responsible for 95 miles of the River Thames from the Estuary to Teddington Lock in West London. We work to keep river users safe, protect and enhance the environment and promote the use of the river for trade and travel.

The Civil Engineering department is responsible for constructing and maintaining a variety of structures along the Thames, ranging from buildings, to lighthouses, to radar towers.

The role:

This is a great opportunity for someone with a wide range of skills in construction and maintenance to work on any PLA facility, building structures and PLA marine craft between Margate and Richmond. The role will undertake duties of carpenter, bricklayer, groundworker, plumber, roofer, glazier, painter and decorator, kitchen fitter.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will hold a City & Guilds – Full Technological Certificate (FTC) in relevant trade or minimum level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance, Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment (Construction). You will have a minimum 5 years subsequent experience in a relevant trade and hold a current qualification in Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS). Qualification in, or willing to be trained to, work at height and over water.

A full UK driving licence is essential. ‘C1’ LGV driving licence is required or will be expected to be obtained.
