Full Description
Uber Boat by Thames Clippers (UBTC) are looking for a Data Systems Engineer to support our Director of IT in technically delivering our data and analytical products alongside data science and BI developers.
You’ll be part of a cross functional team, working closely with our business stakeholders in all areas to enable data driven decisions, acting as a bridge between our back-end IT function and the BI Team and key reporting stakeholders.
With a DevOps focus you’ll not only ensure existing data feeds are optimised and continue to run, but introduce new feeds and system integrations to further enhance our data portfolio.
You’ll manage the pipelining (collection, storage, access), engineering (cleansing, feature creation / selection) and understanding (documentation, exploration) of the data, whilst actively participating in the development of the data warehouse and subsequent enhancements.
We’re looking for someone who has experience using Data platforms, enabling non-technical users to gain insights into key business metrics.
You’ll design, implement, and use effective database structures to ensure data is organised effectively and ready for downstream development of data science and analytics.
You’ll have Strong SQL and data profiling skills; hands-on ELT experience using tools like Streams and Tasks or DBT.
With a proven ability using Azure, MS SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor Reporting Server, SFTP, interfacing through VPNs & Firewalls.
You’ll be familiar with a traditional BI application such as Power BI, Tableau or Spotfire and have a solid understanding of data warehousing principles, concepts, and best practices (e.g., ODS, Data Mart, Data Lakes, Data Vault).

Where: You’ll be based at our offices at Clipper House, Trinity Buoy Wharf, London E14 0JY, a short walk from Canning Town tube or a hop across the river on our staff boat, from North Greenwich tube. We offer flexible start and end times and welcome flexible working conversations.
