Full Description
Here at Uber Boat by Thames Clippers we value strong teamwork, we take pride in what we do, and we respect each other, which make it a great place to work!
As the Duty Fleet Controller, you’ll be relied upon by the business to ensure the efficient running of our timetable. That means regular and effective communication with the Master’s operating our vessels and monitoring GPS tracking systems and passenger numbers. This is an important role, with lots of responsibility to ensure our vessels arrive and leave on time from each pier. So you’ll have a direct impact on our customer’s happiness!
You will chart craft movements, calculate arrival and departure times and record craft traffic information. Therefore, you need to be able to communicate clearly and precisely with lots of different people across the business either over the phone or by VHF radio. You also need to be highly organised and calm when under pressure especially when dealing with technical breakdowns or any incidents and emergencies.
Every now and then, due to things out of our control you may need to cancel a service, letting our passengers know through our real time information systems, so you need to be able to work quickly and accurately to ensure the correct information is relayed.
You’ll need to be flexible in your approach to work and make sure important information is shared effectively across the team. This role means you will work with most departments so you will need to be good at building strong working relationships so you become a trusted and valued member of the team.
If you have worked in a control room before that would be useful, but we’ll give you all the training you need regarding our systems as well as a thorough induction on how the operations at Thames Clippers work, so you will be set up for success.
