Job Description

Department: Finance
Reporting to: Chief Accountant
Salary: £29,349 pa
Base: Gravesend
Closing date: Friday 8 July 2022
Interview date: TBC

Are you looking to become a chartered accountant? Working in an audit company is not your only option, you could come to work for us where we will equip you with all the skills required to work as a chartered accountant in business.

We are looking to recruit an ambitious and determined graduate. Your degree subject is not of concern, more that you have the desire and the dedication to study for your ACCA qualification while working as part of a busy Finance team. With 2 companies and 4 pension schemes, you will be able to meet with ease your charted accountant performance objectives.

The Finance team is based in our Gravesend offices, however working from home part of the week is now the norm. Time off will be given so that you can study for your qualification whether you decide to attend courses or study remotely. There are other benefits including 28 days holiday, a pension, free on-site parking and a cycle to work scheme.

You will be expected to work with the team in producing management accounts, budgets, statutory accounts as well as preparing business plans and analysis. You will be working with managers throughout the organisation and dealing with our external auditors. As your knowledge and experience increases, you will progress within the organisation with your salary increasing significantly to reflect this.

A little bit about the Port of London Authority (PLA):

You probably don’t realise but many of the products you buy will have come into the Port of London. The PLA is the biggest port in the country. It also looks after the whole of the tidal Thames running through our capital city, a draw for many tourists from around the world. There are also many rowers, paddle boarders and small craft that use the Tidal Thames regularly.

As the UK are moving to a Net Zero economy, the port and river will have a crucial part to play in this transformation. We take our social and environmental responsibilities seriously. The future is changing, and you could have the opportunity to be part of this.
