Who we are:

The Port of London Authority is the statutory harbour authority for the tidal Thames and responsible for 95 miles of the River Thames from the Estuary to Teddington Lock in West London. We work to keep river users safe, protect and enhance the environment and promote the use of the river for trade and travel.

As the custodians of the tidal Thames, the Port of London Authority is committed to leaving the Thames in a better state than we received it.

The role:

This is a great opportunity to join the team and help the UK’s biggest Port to achieve our sustainability goals for the tidal Thames. The successful candidate will lead on developing our approach to a wide range of issues. You will deputise for the Director of Sustainability as required and represent the PLA externally with a variety of stakeholders. Working in a matrixed structure, you will provide oversight over key projects in the sustainability portfolio and embed a strong culture of project management into the team.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will be degree (or equivalent) educated in a sustainability related subject. You will be great at working with stakeholders, understanding their motivations and promoting the vision of the PLA.

You will have experience in dealing with a wide range of sustainability issues including decarbonisation, climate change adaption, circular economy and carbon reporting. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to act with tactfulness, assertiveness or persuasiveness, as the situation dictates.
