Cory is one of the UK’s leading waste management and recycling companies.
We operate the Riverside Energy from Waste facility, which comprises of Riverside 1 and 2 with five process lines and two steam turbine generators. Combined, they are one of the largest and most efficient EfW facilities in the UK, processing around 1.5 million tonnes of non-recyclable waste each year. Our future decarbonisation strategy is centred around creating a decarbonisation hub at Riverside using carbon capture solutions to decarbonise waste from local communities, reusing the energy extracted to power heat networks and provide baseload electricity.
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Technician based at our Riverside Energy from Waste facility.

Key Elements of the Role
The holder of this role will provide an important function that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of the Riverside EfW facility through various operational duties and responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Lead Mechanical Technician, the role is to organise and facilitate the mechanical maintenance and repair of plant and equipment across the site, whilst ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental and Operational procedures of the EfW Facility under all situations and conditions. They will also identify maintenance problems and equipment failure frequency rates.
A summary of the role duties and responsibilities are as follows:-
- Ensure that operational duties are carried out in compliance with current legislation (HASWA, LOLER, PSSR, PUWER)
- Contractor Management
- Organising and facilitating planned and reactive maintenance
- Assist in the development of maintenance strategies.
- Perform fault finding and technical diagnosis involved with system and equipment fault rectification.

Job requirements
The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
- A working knowledge of applicable Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
- Experience of using a computerised maintenance management Systems
- Previous experience of working in an Energy from Waste industry or similar heavy process industry
- Previous experience of managing contractors
Please note: the hours for this role are on a staggered day shift, with one weekend in four rostered.
