Job Description
The Port of London Authority (PLA) is currently recruiting an Operations and Project Manager to manage the routine maintenance of operational assets, managing fault repair and project implementation functions of the Navigation System Engineering Department, whilst ensuring minimum downtime of VTS operations, Radar sites, Communications systems etc. and that the PLA’s safety and environmental standards are maintained and improved. The PLA are looking for an experienced service and compliance manager, educated to degree level or equivalent, with at least five years managerial experience in implementation/development/maintenance of navigational/communications system, project delivery or similar businesses. The job holder is required to demonstrate expert knowledge, application and control of resources to meet demands.

It is essential that the post holder should:

• Be an informed and effective communicator, both orally and in writing

• Be capable of leading a technical team

• Be capable of dealing effectively with customers, colleagues, contractors and suppliers

• Possess good grasp of IT and be proficient in its use

• Be able to work autonomously with outline objectives to deliver service and project co-ordination, through analysis and identification of most efficient and best use of resource to deliver client SLA’s and meet expectations

• Have a good understanding of departmental accounting and budgetary control including use of accounting and project cost control software

• Participate in the development of business operations and health and safety culture whilst minimising impact on service

• Report on service levels set against individual and team performance and service targets 

Hours of work for this role are 35 per week based around demand and activities ranging between 08.00 – 17.00 Monday to Friday, plus obligation outside when necessary or demanded by activities or projects. The salary for this role is£44,023 per annum (plus 5% overtime allowance)
