Job Description

Cory operates the Transfer Station across London on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority in the borough of Wandsworth, the City of London at Walbrook Wharf in London, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets at Northumberland Wharf and Barking.

We are currently recruiting for a Plant Electrical Maintenance Technician based at Barking. The role holder will carry out the planned preventative maintenance programme, repairs, modifications, fabrications and other engineering aspects at the Barking Transfer Station and will also provide cover for the Northumberland Wharf and Walbrook Wharf Transfer Stations when required.

Key elements of the role:

  • Completing the planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) for the contract in a timely manner and to a high standard.
  • Providing pro-active control of the process equipment to ensure optimisation of
  • Adjusting and installing alternative component parts and functions within the process equipment, to adapt and enhance the process equipment and ensuring timely replacement/adjustment to avoid potential interruption or reduced efficiency due to malfunction or wear.
  • To carry out mechanical & electrical tests as required by regulation and legislation
  • To attend breakdowns and provide technical support.
  • Assisting the Supervisor/Manager to ensure stores are maintained and stores database is up to date.
  • Assisting with the implementation of the Integrated Management System (IMS), which require engineering support.
  • Assisting the Supervisor/Manager with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, permits to work to ensure Safe systems of work.

Job requirements

The individual we are looking for will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and experience:

  • Technically qualified with proven experience in a similar environment
  • Experience working in control panels, including fault finding and PLC interrogation
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office programmes)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Experience of working with heavy mobile plant
  • Flexible and able to work well and quickly under pressure
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Team Player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Electrical background; either 17th-18th Edition, Installations, Testing & Inspecting
  • Appreciation of mechanical maintenance to assist if required
  • Able to work extra hours or attend job related training, including weekends if needed
  • Holds a full, valid UK driving licence – this role is based at Barking but travel to other Transfer Stations will be required.
