Company
Thames Luxury Charters own and operate a fleet of luxury passenger vessels operating on the River Thames from Butler’s Wharf Pier for over 30 years. Vessels include the Dixie Queen and Elizabethan which present a unique luxury venue for both personal and corporate charters of 2 – 600 guests.
Opportunity
We are currently seeking an experienced Engineer to join the Company working across the fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate looking to develop their career as an Engineer on the River Thames and be part of a successful company.
The Engineer will play a pivotal role in maintaining our luxury Passenger Boats holding responsibility for the vessels as well as associated machinery and equipment, moorings and piers as directed.
Due to the nature of events, applicants must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends in accordance with the events schedule.
Your main duties will include:
- Assisting with all planned maintenance
- Reporting any deficiencies in the appropriate manner and to the appropriate personnel
- Ensuring any vessel on which you are working is properly victualled with appropriate fuel, oil, and water
- Assisting with all stock control procedures ensuring rope, tools, maintenance & cleaning equipment are always stored correctly.
- Maintaining appropriate paperwork with respect to engineering and Health and Safety issues.
- To act as crew on board company vessels, to include assisting with preparation prior to the function.
- Complying with Company Policies and Procedures.
- Fulfilling Health & Safety responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s Health & Safety Policy Statement.
- Attending all training relevant to the role and operational requirements
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Marine Engineering Qualification, MCA Approved Engine Course or equivalent
- Valid ML5 or ENG1
- Minimum of 2-years’ Experience in a similar role
- Good knowledge of marine electrics, engine management systems and maintenance that is required for vessels +30m.
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic abilities
- Experience in performing engine and transmission overhauls and refurbishments
- Ability to work unsupervised and deliver work to the highest standards
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace
- STCW Certificate in Firefighting & Fire Prevention (desirable)
- STCW Certificate in Personal Survival (desirable)
- STCW Certificate in First Aid (desirable)
