Cory is one of the UK’s leading waste management and recycling companies. We operate one of the largest energy from waste facilities in the UK, with a unique river-based infrastructure on the Thames for delivering waste.

The company currently works directly with eight London Boroughs, including Hammersmith and Fulham, Lambeth, Wandsworth, Bexley, Tower Hamlets, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Barking and Dagenham and the City of London.

Cory is planning to invest more than £900 million in its operations and river infrastructure over the coming years. This includes the planned Riverside 2 energy from waste facility next to the company’s existing energy from waste facility in Belvedere.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient, and proactive person to provide administrative and company secretarial support services to the company’s Legal and Company Secretarial functions. This person will report directly to Cory’s General Counsel and Company Secretary.

This key role will include providing administrative support to other members of the Executive Leadership Team at times.

Key responsibilities:

Company Secretarial

  • Provide support for Cory’s company secretarial function, including filing confirmation statements; Companies House filings such as director appointments and resignations, resolutions, PSC updates etc.; preparing board minutes; maintaining company books; updating structure charts.
  • Manage Board details, including director interest register.
  • Manage Nasdaq Boardvantage digital Board portal.
  • Setting up Board and Committee meetings and managing catering.
  • Assist with Board member administrative queries including liaising with Board member PAs.
  • Access online filing and information services as necessary including making land registry searches, filing company forms online and obtaining financial information on companies.

Legal Assistant

  • Organise and maintain files and databases in a confidential manner, including managing the contracts database.
  • Manage communication including emails and phone calls.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and reservations.
  • Set up suppliers and purchase orders, and track and receipt invoices, on the procurement system.
  • Carry out internal photocopying, printing and binding and arrange for external photocopying, printing as necessary and binding.
  • Prepare and arrange signatures for contracts as required.
  • Coordinate legal team travel arrangements including transportation and accommodation.
  • Book training courses and arrange and update membership of training bodies. Arrange for membership renewals for trade organisations and subscriptions.
  • Complete expense forms, movement sheets, holiday/absence forms and maintain diaries as for legal team and wider Leadership Team as required.
  • Provide ad hoc cover for Office Manager when required.
  • Provide support to other departments as necessary and in so far as is compatible with the requirements of the Legal and Company Secretarial functions.

Job requirements

The successful candidate will have these skills and attributes:

  • Proven company secretarial assistant experience and/or qualification
  • Minimum 2-3 years of clerical, secretarial, or office experience
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable with routinely shifting demands
  • High degree of attention to detail
  • Proactive, discreet, and diplomatic
  • Data entry experience

Please note that this role is primarily based in Moorgate, London (Dominion Street) with occasional visits to other Cory sites.

Reduced hours and / or part time (equivalent of 4 days) can be accommodated.
