Job Description
This is a customer service role with a difference! You’ll be working on our boats that travel up and down the river Thames from North Greenwich Pier into London every day managing one of our bars selling hot and cold refreshments to our passengers.
We will give you full training so you’ll know how to use our coffee machines. You’ll be in charge of all stock on-board, ensuring your bar is kept clean and presentable during your shift and ensuring passenger safety and well-being at all times.
As this role is based on a boat on the river, you need to be able to work on the water. If you suffer from motion sickness this role might not be for you!
We are looking for smiley, friendly, approachable people. You’ll meet tourists from all over the world and our commuters who use our service daily, so you need to be comfortable chatting to all types of people and making sure they have a great time with us.
Important information: This is a shift-based role and we run to a timetable, much like buses. You can pick to work weekday shifts and or weekend shifts – you need to collect 8 points a month – weekend days are worth 2 points each and weekdays are worth half a point!
If you’re on an early shift they start from 4am and if you’re on a late shift they can finish at 1.30am so you need to be able to get to and from North Greenwich Pier before the tube starts or after it finishes.
Here at Thames Clippers we really value strong teamwork, we take pride in what we do, and we respect each other which make it a great place to work!
We are an entrepreneurial and inclusive organisation which was voted “Employer of the Year” at the 2017 London Transport Awards. There is real potential for internal development and promotion within our business and internal succession is one of our core values.
Our employees benefit from free travel on Thames Clippers, along with a group private pension plan, private medical insurance, life assurance, EAP, ride to work scheme or season ticket loan and childcare vouchers. We also offer discounts at shops, bars and restaurants at The O2.
We are committed to equality of opportunity for all and our approach to recruitment and selection is fair, open and based purely on merit. Applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
Zero hours – shift work – you choose shifts a month in advance. £10.14 an hour.
