Cory operates the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) at Smugglers Way on behalf of the Western Riverside Waste Authority.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Mobile Plant Operative to add to the team at Smugglers Way MRF. The successful candidate will provide an important role that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of the MRF through various operational duties and responsibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out assigned duties associated with the operation of the MRF facility, including quality control of the material within the process, site cleanliness, storage and delivery of materials
- Operate plant and equipment as required and/or instructed to ensure the efficiency of all site operations.
- Ensure all materials (baled and loose) is correctly and safely stacked or stored in the correct designated area
- Ensure prompt and safe loading of all materials for outward transport from the site, and that trailers and bulk hauliers are loaded to their optimum capacity recording all information in relation to outgoing materials as required
- Ensure plant and equipment is used correctly, maintained and is kept in a clean and safe condition
- Report and record immediately to the Supervisor (or other member of management) any defect / damage / incident to plant /equipment/ personnel that will detrimentally affect the operations of the MRF or transfer station and record these on the daily check sheets.
- Ensure accidents & incidents are reported to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
- Assist vehicles delivering material in order to keep queuing vehicles to a minimum.
- Ensure all cleanliness of the MRF.
- Be in charge of and be responsible for the safe operations of the plant & equipment they are operating.
- Carry out daily, maintenance/safety checks before using any item of plant or equipment as required on the checklist forms.
- Take care for the health & safety of himself and of other persons who may be affected by his acts or omissions.

- Flexible approach to working pattern, willing to work AM or PM shifts as requested.
Shift Pattern
This role is based on the following shift pattern:
- Monday to Friday 06:00-14:00 or 14:00-22:00
There is also possible weekend working.
