Cory Riverside Energy is now recruiting for an Operations Apprentice.
Through practical and vocational studies obtain work-related professional qualifications to be able to work as part of a team of responsible for operating and/or maintaining an energy from waste plant. To attend college and complete course work to a high standard.
The training to be provided is Level 3 Operations Diploma Electrical Power Engineering – Power Plant Operations.
The Operations Apprenticeship will be 4 years in duration, aimed at achieving Plant Operator status and will be delivered in conjunction with a recognised and approved training body.
Through College and Site based learning support the team operate and maintain Plant, Equipment and Vehicles; Learn how to carry out operational inspections, checks and routines and in addition carrying out first line maintenance and under supervision be able to carry out the routines; Learn how to fault finding, using a logical approach in finding defects and causes for failures in various equipment; Learn the energy to waste process including the combustion process, boiler chemistry, water-steam cycle, turbine and pollution control equipment; Learn the DCS operation of the process and under supervision be able to operate the plant from the control room; Under supervision, to adjust and install alternative component parts and to keep the site functioning to avoid potential interruption or reduced efficiency of service; Attend breakdowns and provide support alongside maintenance staff; To identify, propose and justify potential improvements to plant and equipment; Learn how to operate vehicle and equipment machinery; Learn how to complete and submit reports and information in a timely manner.
Desired Skills: Maths / English and interest in Science and Engineering.
Desired Personal Qualities: Good timekeeper and ability to work well with other people. A person who is willing to receive and implement instruction from tutors and mentors.
Desired Qualifications: The successful candidate should have achieved Grades A-C in 5 GCSEs or Level 4 plus equivalence, which must include Mathematics, English and a Physics or Science Subject.
Future Prospects: Potential permanent position within the organisation.
